I like to write creatively & randomly. I don’t schedule writing times, I don’t create subject lists…I tend to go days, even weeks, without writing. And then, all of a sudden, I will feel a burning desire to sit down & write.
The funny thing is, 99% of the time, I have no earthly idea what I’m going to write about. But I will dutifully sit with my pencil & notebook, let my mind wander, & before I know it, words are pouring out of me like a waterfall. And that’s how this poem happened…
A blank page
Stares back at you
A blank page
Becomes intimidating when you stare too long
A blank page
Will win the staring game more often than not
But a blank page
Is only blank until you take action
It is only intimidating as long as you let it be
In life, change is the blank page that stares us down
Sometimes, we pretend it isn’t there
Sometimes, we avoid eye contact
Sometimes, we stare back
But sometimes we take action
And when we do
Fear & intimidation
Are replaced with motivation & focus
Self-confidence rises
And the desire to prove results becomes fierce
So, while a blank page is intimidating
It is also an opportunity
That can stare you down
But a blank page, is also an opportunity
To replace fear and intimidation
With Something Fierce
This poem became the inspiration for my blog title because this blog is one of many results of me taking action & finally living my Something Fierce 😊
